EMISSION CONTROL ISN’T IMPOSSIBLE.
Emission control generally falls into two areas: primary being Particulate Matter described as PM10 and PM2.5 and secondary being gaseous. The extensive research into emission control from various sources seem to acknowledge that gaseous emissions such as NOx and CO2 are in fact reducing because of changes in technical and logistical elements such as other fuel solutions, advances in engine technology and introduction of emission control zones in urban areas. Alarmingly however the PM10/2.5 are anticipated to increase. With PM2.5 being the most deadly, causing cancer and other harmful diseases, there is a great deal of talk about the problem but little being done to provide a solution.
Present solutions to reduce particulate emissions from engines in trucks and buses are achieved by exhaust filtration; collecting particulates in a filter until full, at which point the engine management system instructs it to inject more fuel into the system to burn off the contents into the atmosphere at high temperature.
Evidence has shown that some particulate filters are not working and in fact can cause an engine serious damage, leaving the driver stranded and bemused. Leaving the haulage firm facing huge bills. In addition, particulate matter is not actually reduced, it just builds up in the exhaust to be released into the atmosphere in one large black cloud as the filtration system tries to clear itself.
At Hydrox Solutions we have developed a programmable computerised system that deals with particulate emission reduction and can be incorporated or retro-fitted to improve the effects of filtering the exhaust. That is to say, we are enhancing the quality of the fuel causing combustion to be more complete, hence burning the particulates at the point of combustion.
To do this we have engineered the means to control hydrogen on demand and by doing so we have designed technology that has been proven to reduce Particulate Matter (PM) significantly, reliably and cost effectively.
It has been recognised for years that the introduction of hydrogen into the combustion chamber of any internal combustion engine has a beneficial effect. Unfortunately hydrogen systems have attracted bad publicity in the past due to false and exaggerated claims but it is well known and widely accepted that the basic technology is sound but control has always been the sticking point.
The effectiveness of our system is not governed by engine size as the unit can be easily scaled and retro-fitted to any diesel engine.
Through controlled and fully documented independent tests conducted at the UK government approved facility Millbrook, our system has reduced carcinogenic particulate emissions from an already efficient euro 5 diesel engine by an additional 22%.
Further developing this system alongside the work currently being undertaken by engineers and maintenance operatives in the automotive industry is the next step. We know the benefits of doing so will be huge and we are currently looking for like-minded organisations to make this happen.
Without proper direction from Government it is arguable that this issue is quite simply being brushed under the carpet. With legislation having just been passed to further reduce emissions by 2020 we have found that through the reliable control of hydrogen on demand we can make a serious contribution towards achieving this.
What we now hope is that the market will sit up and take notice as to what is now a practical reality. Whilst we won’t make false claims of ‘fantastic fuel savings’ we can genuinely give industry a much needed emission reduction device.
